Ingredients
 
 

  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 pound ground beef I use 80% lean
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons tamari soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sake or dry white wine
  • 6 cups cooked short grain rice
  • 1 medium carrot peeled into ribbons
  • 1 cup sliced cucumber

Topping

  • Thinly sliced scallions
  • Shichimi pepper

Instructions
 

  • In a medium pan, heat up the oil and cook the garlic until fragrant.
  • Add the ground beef and cook 80% of the way.
  • Add the brown sugar, tamari soy sauce, and sake. Cook until the mix is no longer saucy.
  • Arrange rice in bowls. Top with cooked beef, ribboned carrots, and cucumber. Sprinkle shichimi pepper and scallions (optional).
