Tamari Almonds

These vegan tamari almonds are a delicious, crunchy snack made with a simple glaze of tamari soy sauce and maple syrup. Finished with a nutty sprinkle of sesame seeds, they have the perfect balance of salty and sweet flavors in every bite.

Ingredients
 
 

  • 2 cups raw almonds
  • 2 tablespoons tamari soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons white (or black) sesame seeds

Instructions
 

  • In a large non-stick pan, place the almonds. Roast over medium heat for 5-8 minutes until fragrant and golden.
  • Add the tamari soy sauce and maple syrup to the pan. Cook on low heat until the liquid cooks down.
  • Sprinkle sesame seeds and toss.
  • Cool the almonds on a lined sheet pan. Make sure to separate them out to avoid sticking.
  • Storage: 2 weeks at room temperature. Make sure the almonds are completely cooled before transferring to a storage container.

Notes

Variations:
Add some shichimi pepper or cayenne pepper to make this spicy.
