This crunchy spicy cucumber salad is loaded with Asian flavors from bonito flakes, tamari, and sesame oil. There is a bit of tanginess and a perfect level of heat from chili.
With all the simple ingredients, you can whip up this salad in no time. All you need to do is to place everything in an airtight container and SHAKE! The flavor sinks into the cucumber as it sits, making it even more delicious on the next day.
I often eat this as a quick snack, or add onto my favorite donburi (rice bowls) with meat or fish. To make this kids friendly, simply omit the crushed red pepper.

- Tamari
- Sesame oil
- Rice vinegar
- Sugar
- Salt
- Crushed red peppers
- Seedless cucumber
How to make spicy cucumber salad
1. Make the seasoning mix. In a small bowl, combine all ingredients except for the cucumber together. Set aside.
2. Place the cucumber in an airtight container.
3. Shake. Pour the sauce mix over the cucumber. Close the lid and shake well.

- 3 tablespoons bonito flakes
- 2 tablespoons tamari soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt

- 1 pound seedless cucumbers cut into bite size pieces
Instructions
