This Earl Grey banana bread is extremely moist, fluffy and fragrant. It is a perfect option for an afternoon snack or breakfast! This recipe is free of gluten, dairy and refined sugar.
This is definitely not the type of banana bread that needs a drizzle of maple syrup or a smear of butter. It is rich and decadent with so much Earl Grey tea flavor. Despite how fancy it sounds, it is extremely easy to whip up in one bowl.
If you would like a little twist in your banana bread, this is the way to go!

What is Earl Grey tea?
Earl Grey tea is a type of black tea flavored with oil from the rind of bergamot orange. This bergamot is what gives a distinct aroma. Its sweet, floral, sour and bitter flavor profile blends perfectly with a full-bodied black tea base.
It is commonly used to add a layer of flavor to baked goods, ice cream (my favorite!), and drinks.
Banana x Earl Grey?
Your question may be, ‘Do they really go well together?’
My answer is, yes.
The earl grey gives a great pop to the flavor. The bergamot in the tea really adds an elegant aroma while not overkilling the banana flavor. On top of that, there’s a caramel-like scent from coconut sugar that completes the excellent harmony!
Are they gritty?
Once the tea leaves are steeped in a small amount of hot water, the entire mix will be going into the batter. Yes, the leaves as well. But trust me, there will be no grittiness in the baked slices!
The leaves in the tea bags are fine enough to be baked in.
