    Avocado Toast with Pear and Honey

    A quick and unique toast idea is here for you! Who would have thought avocado and pear go so well together? Free of gluten, dairy and super easy to put together in 10 minutes, this fun combination is definitely worth trying.

    Toasted bread with melted butter and a hint of sweetness for breakfast… This was one of the things I missed the most when I first started out my gluten and dairy free journey. But soon after that, I realized that the butteriness can be substituted with ripe, soft avocados (if not dairy free butter) and the sweetness can be added in a more natural way with fruits and a drizzle of maple syrup or honey instead of sugar loaded jam. 

    So how did I discover this pear and avocado combo? It was when I was tidying up my children’s leftover fruits in the morning.

    I randomly placed thin slices of pear over my gluten-free avocado toast, and asked myself whether it should be a sweet or savory meal. Then I decided to make it into a sweet thing by drizzling honey plus crunchy pecans for a texture. Ever since then, I have been obsessed!

    Ingredients for this recipe

    • Gluten-free bread
    • Pear
    • Large avocado
    • Pecan nuts - Unsalted, crushed roughly.
    • A drizzle of honey - Switch to maple syrup for a vegan option.

    How to make this avocado pear toast

    1. Arrange avocado slices on top of your toasts.
    2. Place pear slices on top of avocado.
    3. Top with pecan nuts, drizzle honey and dig in while they are warm!

    What can I pair this with?

    They are super delicious on their own but you can also pair with a simple salad to make it into a full meal, for example this arugula salad or strawberry pecan salad.

    • 2 slices gluten-free bread toasted
    • ½ pear sliced
    • ½ large avocado sliced
    • 1 tablespoon crushed pecans
    • 1 tablespoon honey

    • Place avocado slices on top of toasts.
    • Arrange pear slices on top of avocado.
    • Top with crushed pecans and drizzle with honey.

    Notes

    Choose a ripe avocado for a more butter-like texture.
