Toasted bread with melted butter and a hint of sweetness for breakfast… This was one of the things I missed the most when I first started out my gluten and dairy free diet. But soon after that, I realized that the butteriness can be substituted with ripe, soft avocados (if not dairy free butter) and the sweetness can be done in the most natural way with a bit of fruit and a drizzle of maple syrup or honey instead of sugar loaded jam.
So how did I discover this pear and avocado combo? It was when I was tidying up my children’s leftover fruit in the morning actually (moms, can you relate?) I randomly placed the thin pear slices on top of my gluten free avocado toast, then I asked myself ‘Is this a sweet or savory thing?’, and I decided to make this into a sweet thing by drizzling a bit of honey plus crunchy pecans. And ever since then, I have been obsessed!

- A drizzle of honey - switch to maple syrup for a vegan option!
How to make this avocado pear toast
- Place the avocado slices on top of toasts.
- Place the pear slices on top of avocado.
- Top with pecan nuts, drizzle honey and dig in while they are warm!
What goes well with these
These toasts are super delicious on their own but you can also pair with a simple salad to make it into a full meal, for example this arugula salad!
